General: ECDL (European Computer Driving License)

The prospectus for the European Computer Driving License reads like a sales manual for Microsoft Office.
The cost of Microsoft Office compared to free office suites such as IBM Lotus means that it is losing market share,
though it is still the dominant package.
However, for job seekers the time spent learning the intiracies of Power Point presentations
would be much better spent in designing web pages (which is not covered at all in the ECDL).

The Word Processing and Spreadsheet parts of this course compare IBM Lotus and Microsoft Word
so that the student will be able to use both. For those that wish to obtain the ECDL certiicate,
there is an additional two-session (4 hour) course just on Power Point.
